Fridays and Failure

I will continue my posting on theme/writing process shortly, but I'm chewing over a few questions Janet and Cara posed in the comments section of my last post, and trying to wrestle Finn and Allegra's story into submission.

In the meantime, I'm about to ditch at least two scenes of my Little Mermaid story and write something new. I have too much of my heroine on her own, thinking. She needs to be interacting with the hero. And when he's a hero who's quite as delicious as Finn McLeod I'm not sure why she isn't. Maybe it's the fear...

And talking of fear (which is very relevent before I hit the 'delete' button on chapter three), Michelle Styles has written a fab post for the Pink Heart Society on why failure can be the writer's best friend!

Hi Fiona, What a shame you had to ditch 2 scenes. I hope you get your heroine sorted out quickly. If she's used to keeping her wishes/opinions silent no wonder she spends too much time inside her head.

The Moral Premise arrived today --can't wait to read it.

I spoke too soon about ditching scenes. I ended up leaving those two in, changing the end of a previous one, writing one I'd skipped over and adding a completely new on in from my hero's POV. Quite a productive day, all in all!
